Some time ago, in an article on this blog, we discussed the importance of the SSI (Social Selling Index) indicator in the activity of B2B sales executives.
Today we are going to take it a step further. I want to show you how to know your SSI and how to improve it.
Shall we begin?
Take a sheet of paper and a pencil.
your username and password. Then go to this URL
It is important that you do this from a web browser, not from finance directors email list the LinkedIn app.
When you log in you will see a screen like this:
Step-by-step guide to optimizing your LinkedIn profile (Part 1)
Social Index
Write down on the paper your current SSI score (in the reference image it would be 81/100)
Then write down your score on the 4 pillars on the right side:
In the example they would be:
– 21/25
– 20/25
– 15.34/25
– 25/25
The truth is that, to achieve 25 points in Professional Brand, we must be very diligent in the preparation of our profile. Think of it this way: your profile is like a big file with information to fill out. The more you fill it with quality information and content, the closer you will be to the ideal score.
Step 1: Carefully choose which words you will put in your profile URL:
The Linkedin profile URL is one of the elements that helps us position ourselves the most. That’s why the words you put there are crucial. In my case: “digital marketing” because it gives me a good combination of relevance and breadth.
Step-by-step guide to optimizing your LinkedIn profile (Part 1)
Relevance: “digital marketing” is what I do.
Breadth: “digital marketing” reaches more people than “digital marketing” or “B2B marketing” or “lead generation.”
Step 2: Make sure you have your social pitch well prepared at first glance
A “social pitch” is a brief and clear description of how you provide value online.
You need to make sure that every prospect who sees this screen understands how you bring value to them and makes them want to hit that blue button
My Social Pitch, for example, is:
“CEO & Founder Pragmática Agencia Digital B2B | Professor – Digital Marketing | Blogger MarketingB2B.blog”
Step 3: Scan your profile picture with this tool
Use Snappr Photo Analyzer to scan your profile photo for opportunities for improvement.Step-by-step guide to optimizing your LinkedIn profile (Part 1)
The profile photo you choose will be the image with which you present yourself to your prospect. Therefore, it is very important that it is a good quality photograph that represents you and speaks about you.
For example, a manager or someone with a job linked to the business world should have a profile photo that conveys professionalism. On the other hand, a speaker would probably want to show himself giving a talk.
Step 4: Design a cover that conveys your Social Pitch
Once you are clear about what you want to convey to your prospects, create a message that conveys that idea.
Go to Canva and create a cover image (they have thousands of designs) that conveys your Social Pitch.
You will monitor these values every week, so I recommend that you always keep this paper handy.
As you can see, each of the 4 pillars has a maximum score of 25. And the sum of the 4 gives us the total score of 100.
If you want to improve your overall SSI, you must improve in each of these 4 pillars.
Where do I start my improvement plan?
You can start with whichever one you want, but I recommend starting with the first one: “Establish your professional brand”
