Tips for choosing a LinkedIn URL

Post by Ehsanuls55 »

There are many options for customizing a URL.

However, for your LinkedIn URL, you can try these ideas:

Use your full name
If you've never edited your LinkedIn URL before, it's probably now made up of your name, with a few digits at the end.

Try removing those digits, and see if it will allow you to use your full name. If it's already taken, consider adding your middle name, or an initial if you have one.

Don't forget to check your spelling, as it is common to make mistakes when typing and then no board members email list one will be able to find you when performing manual searches.

Add a unique feature
Have you always been called Maury, even though your name is Bob? Do you have a job title? Are you known as the “SaaS Guy”?

Even consider using your first and last name, followed by your company name, like this person did:

Include some personal touches to your URL and people will remember you better.

Some examples:

Tom Moves You
JessicaCares
TopHatTerry
MaurynotBob
Keep it simple
The goal is to shorten or clean up your current URL, so lengthening it would go against that principle.

Although you have up to 100 characters, it's best to stick to something short enough for people to remember.

Also, don't forget to update your old URL with the new one. These may be some places where you'll need to change your LinkedIn URL:

Your email signature .
The footer of your emails - if they are HTML.
Your brochures, business cards, stationery.
Your personalized emails from LaGrowthMachine.
Also, don't forget to add the URL anywhere it doesn't appear.
Including your LinkedIn URL on these sites will encourage people to share it with their contacts because they feel confident that they are referring you correctly.

When others view your public profile, they should be able to understand exactly what your job is and why they should contact you.
