You only need to search the web for the best SEO tools to see that there are countless of them, both free and paid.

Whether you are just starting out as a freelance consultant or you have your own projects and want to assess the status of your websites without having to invest huge amounts of money, in this post we try to simplify this search by providing you with the SEO tools that are truly essential.

While it is true that everyone has a preference for one tool or another, the truth is that it is not necessary to hoard a large number of tools focused on SEO analysis to evaluate the status of a website and start taking action.

In the following table you can see a summary of those SEO tools, both free and paid, that you can start with.

$199/year (free version of 500 URLs)

By using these tools correctly, you will surely have more than enough information to thoroughly analyze websites, perform SEO audits , and start taking action.

An important aspect that we sometimes overlook is the fact that we do not analyze websites solely with the information provided by the tools.

It may seem obvious, but it is true that sometimes we can tend to blindly trust what a tool tells us without checking it personally, forgetting that in many cases the best SEO tool is ourselves.

Screaming Frog

Screaming Frog

Screaming Frog is, in my opinion, the only really essential paid tool. While it is true that it has a free version that allows you to analyze up to 500 URLs (and that will probably fall short), for $199 per year you have the premium version.

Considering the cost of other types of SEO tools and the wide potential of this one, the cost-benefit balance is really high.

It allows you to analyze the entire technical side of your website, from indexability status, crawling, rendering, internal linking, external linking, content and a host of other things.

The truth is that getting the most out of it requires time and dedication. Here is the official user manual, which has a lot to offer.

Google Search Console

This is a free tool from Google that you probably already know. If not, add your domain here and start analyzing your website.

Through Google Search Console you can see reports on the types of queries that users use to organically land on your pages and which URLs bring you more or less traffic (and their comparisons over time).

On the other hand, you will be able to analyze the “health” status of your website and see if you have serious indexability and crawling problems, analyze your Core Web Vitals, see what type of resource Google Bot accesses, graphic design email address list the status codes of the URLs it crawls, etc.

In short, it is mandatory to take this series of information into account.

Google Analytics 4: Measure and you may win
Google Analytics

Another tool that if you are not currently using you should start using is Google Analytics 4.

At SEOCOM we offer web analytics services because, although it is true that making the basic configuration is relatively simple, if you want to make the most of data collection, it is necessary to make different configurations that require more advanced knowledge.

This will help you determine which areas of your website are performing best, and you will be able to focus and prioritize those areas of your website where you will really notice the greatest impact.

Google Keyword Planner
There are many tools that provide you with information about the search volume of different keywords. There are few that provide you with truly reliable information for free.

With the Google Ads Keyword Planner you can do your keyword studies and detect trends in demand for the keywords that concern you, see the price range in which each keyword moves if you want to activate campaigns and get an “estimate” of the level of competition that these may have.

The only drawback is that to obtain a more or less precise data, you need to have active advertising campaigns. If not, what you will get is an open range in terms of search demand. We can see this through the following example:

If this option does not convince you, you have multiple SEO suites to analyze the search demand for keywords, such as Dinorank, Sistrix, Ahrefs, Ubbersugest among others.

Rely on artificial intelligence tools
Using tools like GPT Chat (especially version 4.0) you can optimize the time you spend, for example, developing the content strategy for your website.

You can speed up the time it takes to search for and write content, as well as rely on (not trust 100%) information that the tool can give you about the search intent of certain keywords or to which stage of the funnel we can assign each of the contents.

You can also use these types of tools to speed up certain SEO tasks such as analyzing your competitors' titles and headings and resolving certain doubts about technical aspects.

Tools and more tools
As we have seen, there are many SEO tools and extensions . Here we have suggested the ones that are probably the most essential, taking into account an adequate balance between cost and performance that you can get from them.

However, there are many other tools, some of them free and others paid, which depending on the budget you are willing to invest can also provide you with highly valuable information.
