As a new normal is taking shape, new needs are emerging where cloud architecture plays a central role.
It is no news that the cloud is gaining great prominence, especially during the global health crisis unleashed by the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, as a new normal is taking shape, cloud-first seems to be more the rule than the exception.

But what makes this technology so essential? What does it mean and what should we know to take advantage of it in our business?

Organizations around the world spent $107 billion on cloud engineer database as a service in 2019, up 37% from the previous year. And even before the pandemic, companies were showing an increase in cloud computing sales .

5 keys to keep in mind
1. Cloud architecture: “one whole.” Cloud architecture not only concentrates the features of the systems provided by Rackspace, Azure or AWS, but goes beyond that to provide answers to all the challenges faced by IT specialists. The cloud has given way to a new corporate architecture in which the internal environment is just one more piece of everything that must be managed in a convenient way.

2. There is no single cloud. Companies cannot get used to thinking that by adopting cloud resources they have already done their job, since new needs can always arise. Some of these arise in response to the introduction of new cloud technology provided by providers such as Google or AWS. The catalogue of cloud services that a company uses is always growing and open to new possibilities.

3. How can we become cloud architects? Although cloud architecture is what sets the standards today, we cannot become cloud architects without first being IT architects. That is, if we have chosen to become AWS architects (which is one of the most widespread platforms), we will have to fully understand concepts about networks, technologies, virtual desktops, access… and many other things.

4. The speed and scalability of the cloud. One of the main notable features of the cloud is that it allows us to work very quickly, respond to processes in a matter of minutes and scale according to the needs that arise. This allows any type of business to improve and optimize its work. And we will see later that in a scenario like the current one, it is even more valued.

5. It's not just infrastructure. We need to stop thinking of the cloud as just infrastructure. The capabilities that the cloud presents represent assets of our company and can no longer be managed by individual groups, but all members of the business must have the opportunity to benefit from them.
