Protect the contents of a spreadsheet

The first thing to do is to select all the cells in the sheet, right-click and select the “Format Cells” option . In the menu that appears, go to the “Protect” option , uncheck the “Locked” option and click “OK” to save the changes.

Now it is time to select all the cells that we want to lock and repeat the same process as before: Select the cells > right click > Format cells > Protect > check the Locked option > OK to save the changes . After that, all that remains is to “Protect the current sheet” .

The result is a sheet with the cells we have selected blocked and the rest accessible.

After selecting the range to which we want to apply this functionality, we click on “Conditional formatting” in the “Home” tab . In the drop-down menu that appears below we can choose several options: highlight cells when they are greater than or less than, when they contain a certain text, or a specific date.
