Types and sources of website traffic

All website traffic can be classified into two main types:

Targeted. Visitors who show interest in the resource – those who want to buy a product or service, get information, and so on.

Non-targeted traffic. Random visitors who came to the site, for example, through an advertisement and have no specific interest in the virtual platform.

More valuable are the target users. The web resource is created for them first and foremost.

Traffic can also be free , paid, or conditionally free.

Types and sources of website traffic

Based on the source principle, website traffic can be classified into at least 11 types:

Organic. Part of the audience that finds the resource using search engines. If you do not use specialists for promotion, this type of traffic is free.

Direct. Visitors who regularly viber data package come to the site. They enter the name of your site in the search bar - they may be interested in products, promotions or information on the resource. Regular visitors are a very valuable (and free) channel that needs to be developed and supported.

Referral. These are transitions from third-party Internet sites. It is conditionally free - your links can be placed for free by friendly resources. It can also be paid if you buy links.

Advertising. One of the most productive sources of traffic. It comes from contextual advertising, since the person who clicked on the ad is the target visitor. This is a paid channel, and the cost of this type of PR is constantly growing.

Social. This is the flow of the audience that comes from social networks. This channel is one of the most promising, dynamically developing, it must be actively supported.

Teaser. It comes from the corresponding type of networks - these are specialized sites where catchy advertising is placed, quickly attracting visitors to the site with the help of a bright, intriguing design with a minimum of details. Despite its popularity, this type of traffic does not involve the audience and mobilizes only random users.

Banner. This traffic comes from this type of PR, which can be quite effective, especially on specialized advertising platforms such as Yandex.Direct or Google AdWords.

Postal. Traffic coming from electronic mailings. However, each of them must be of high quality, competently designed and developed, since letters with spam content not only do not attract, but also repel visitors.

Video advertising. PR in this format is a fairly popular and effective channel for increasing traffic. It can be free (if you manage your account yourself) or paid (if you use AdWords).

Pop-up traffic. Comes from pop-up advertising windows. This channel can irritate many users.

Cash back traffic (or motivated). Uses tactics similar to retargeting. You can re-attract many visitors by offering them discounts, promotions, cashback, and access to content closed to other users.
