After the “slowdown” recorded in 2009, online sales this year jumped 14%, reaching 6.5 billion euros and exceeding the threshold of 1% of total retail sales. B2C e-commerce is therefore growing again in Italy too. This is revealed by the 2010 research by the B2c eCommerce Observatory of the School of Management of the Milan Polytechnicand by Netcomm , which also highlights a significant trend if evaluated from a long-term perspective: Mobile Commerce , which is starting to of the new paradigm of Mobile Internet and Application Stores .

Regarding the Mobile phenomenon, Andrea Rangone – Head of ICT & Management denmark telegram data Observatories at the Milan Polytechnic – says he is convinced that there will be good growth in the future of this digital sales channel, given the rapid spread in Italy of the latest generation smartphones, flat rates for mobile browsing and the number of Mobile Surfers who today in Italy are over 11 million. For the moment, the m-commerce segment is worth just 0.2% of the total e-commerce market, or approximately 12 million euros. The area with the largest number of Mobile Commerce initiatives is air and rail transport (Lufthansa, Meridiana, Trenitalia, Volagratis) which represents approximately 30% of the value generated by transactions via mobile phone.
