Youthful Victim in Unprecedented Tax Blunder"

A 22-year-old man living in Austria has received a tax bill totaling 29 million euros (approximately 3.77 billion yen), a local newspaper reported on May 8th. The

 man told the local newspaper Heute that the bill was sent after he had filed his tax return for 2008, when he was working as a trainee with a monthly salary of about 600 euros (approximately 78,000 yen). The bill demanded that he pay 290,420.13 euros (approximately 37.8 million yen), or 1% of the outstanding amount, phone number library immediately. "It was a complete shock. the man's mother said when she called the tax office, but was told by a tax official, "No one would argue at the cash register at Billa ( supermarket). Just pay it quietly."

But later he received a second letter from the tax office saying the first tax notice was invalid and apologising for a "technical error".
