Elevation Dock is the first project to raise more than $1 million in funding via crowdfunding platform Kickstarter , thus crossing a magical threshold. In the first 24 hours of the crowdfunding campaign, more than $150,000 was raised. Elevation Dock is a docking station for the iPhone – just like the MacBook unibody, the product is made from a single block of aluminum. Almost three years after the founding of Kickstarter, Elevation Dock is the first project to raise 1 million dollars. More than a year ago, brother cell phone list the project TikTok+LunaTik almost raised this amount for the production of watch straps, with which an iPod Nano can be turned into a watch.
A month ago, the Hidden Radio & Bluetooth Speaker project also came close to raising 1 million dollars, to finance – as the name suggests – a speaker and radio with Bluetooth connectivity.

These three projects are very similar:
Gadgets : All three are gadgets, which distinguish themselves by design and functionality. Not entirely coincidentally, all three gadgets tie into the Apple craze and thus focus on the target group of young and creative people with a large budget.
Pre-ordering : Backers (or 'backers' as Kickstarter calls it) actually place a pre-order for the product with their donation. This way they are sure to be the first to own the new gadget. This fits perfectly with the target group.
Media attention : All three projects have received extensive attention from the (tech) media, from Wired to the New York Times. This is one of the reasons why the projects have been so successful in raising funding.
