I decided to analyze the studies found on the web regarding whether washing dishes by hand or in a dishwasher is cheaper. Unfortunately, I have the impression that the topic of saving time that washing dishes in a dishwasher gives us has been treated "in a stepmotherly way" and with less precision than the issue of costs. Perhaps I will share my own observations on this matter. Washing dishes by hand in a family of 3, which, in my opinion, did not "dirty" much (often eating out or one-pot meals) took an average of 15-20 minutes.
The time we save on washing up in the dishwasher
Is it more economical to wash by hand or in the dishwasher?

Putting the dishes in the dishwasher, which we usually do right after cooking, takes much less time. In fact, putting in 3 plates, 3 forks and 1-2 pots + a few accessories from preparation sometimes takes less than a minute. Taking egypt whatsapp database out does take a bit longer, because we empty the entire dishwasher, but we do it once every 3 days for 5-6 minutes (for simplicity, let's assume 6, or 2 minutes per day). That gives me 3 minutes per day. I'll "round" it up to 5 minutes. Monthly, that's 150 minutes, or 2.5 hours.
According to the upper time of hand washing from the article (15 minutes – the question is whether this time includes cleaning up the washed, dried items?) we have 7.5 hours per month. The difference is therefore 5 hours. For me, this means that I can afford to watch 2 more films per month or spend this time on other pleasures. Of course, this can be converted into money by substituting the hourly rate for the work that is done. At 12 PLN/h, this is 60 PLN, which in theory we can earn more. And the fact that the dishwasher itself needs 2 or 3 hours to wash is irrelevant in my opinion and should not be included, because this is not the time that we ourselves have to devote to it. The dishwasher is working, and we are watching the previously mentioned film.
Physical activity, not just when washing dishes by hand
Another argument in the article “Hand washing is healthier for us. Working with our hands, we are physically active. And in an upright position, we do not strain our spine, like when bending down to the dishwasher
and putting dishes in it.” For example, I only had pain in my fingers and numbness in my hands when washing dishes by hand, and as for the upright position – maybe in a kitchen perfectly adjusted to your height, it would be like that
. However, everyone adopts some averages when arranging the kitchen, and therefore I could never stand perfectly upright. It was always a slight “bow” towards the sink. And it was probably worse than a proper
bend that I do for a moment to the dishwasher (and you can always squat down, which, as we know, is much healthier for the spine).
Cost of purchasing a dishwasher
payday loanThe statement that you can't wash Teflon pots and pans in a dishwasher is also wrong. Of course you can, as long as the manufacturer clearly states it. Of course there are things that shouldn't be washed in a dishwasher - that's true. I would also argue with including the cost of buying a dishwasher in the calculations. Following this line of reasoning, you can prove that buying a vacuum cleaner or a washing machine is also economically unprofitable and this would of course be true, and yet almost everyone in Poland buys both of these devices for their home and rather doesn't "include" them in the costs of cleaning or washing.
