Research the hashtag you want

Post by Bappy10 »

Place hashtags at the bottom of your post
On Twitter, your message is limited to 140 characters, and your message and a link must all fit in there. Reason for users to make the #hashtag part of their sentence structure.

On Facebook, you have more space for text and formatting of your message, such as a blank line. So write your message first and place your hashtags at the bottom of your message. Your text will now be less cluttered and more readable.

Find out if your hashtag is already in use and for which topics. Does a click on the hashtag latvia phone number list yield many messages that match you? Does a search yield the same messages as with the hashtags you already use on Twitter? Is the topic too broad or too narrow to fit the message you are posting? Just like you should on Twitter, first find out if the hashtag you want to use also suits you. So search in the Facebook search bar !

#Please #don't exaggerate!
Some messages on Twitter seem to be written in hashtags, while this has no added value. The hashtags often have no underlying subjects. If people click on them to discover more, you are sending them away empty-handed. Too many hashtags in a sentence also give your text a flashy appearance. So apply the technique, but don't overdo it. I myself keep to a maximum of two hashtags per message, which are short and concise #anddon'ttrytobeanunreadablesentence. If you still want to write a whole sentence in one hashtag, #UseCapitalsThen.

Facebook's algorithms
hashtags algorithmFacebook is a fan of algorithms, which they also apply to hashtags. If you search for a specific hashtag, you will not (always) see results in chronological order. The algorithm shows you them in order of popularity and relevance.

If a page you like uses a hashtag, it will be higher in your search results. If a message has received many reactions and likes, it will also be higher in the results. This effect does not seem to have reached all the hashtags I searched for, we will have to wait until the hashtag is used more often on Facebook. At the moment, the hashtag does not work on mobile yet, we will have to wait for the next update of the app.

Find your own hashtag
This could be a company name, or a topic that is closely related to it. Keep your hashtags short and relevant so that your customers can use them in their messages, if it is relevant. Try to find a short unique hashtag that allows your audience to read all messages about this topic with one click. This way, your previously posted messages on this theme can also be found (if your hashtag is unique enough).

Remember that a Facebook user will see your posts in their timeline and will not see them all ( EdgeRank ), Facebook is not that different from Twitter. If you already use hashtags on Twitter, investigate whether you want to use the same ones on Facebook.
