An advantage? Yes and no. Instagram does give us more freedom to choose how short or long the video will be, but those six Vine seconds force you to be extra creative! The editing function within Instagram is ideal: it is an option that Vine lacks. But this function can also be weighed up. Do you choose flexibility or spontaneity? The part where Vine still scores points compared to Instagram is the loop in the video. You watch a Vine, sometimes unnoticed, more than once in a row.
What is striking and admirable is that, despite the fact that such a groundbreaking new technology has been added to the app, Instagram has remained close to its own design. Only a video button has been added next to the familiar camera button.
