There are various reasons why people use social media. Because they want to share things, show who they are, maintain contacts, self-development or to gain recognition. The latter can be receiving retweets. But how do you get them? That is the question we ask today in the Infographic Day series .

A retweet (abbreviated RT) indicates that your followers appreciate and/or find your Twitter message interesting. An RT allows your message to reach a larger target group. But you don't just get a retweet. The infographic below from QuickSprout lists 'requirements' that a Twitter message must meet if you want it to be retweeted by your followers. For example, tweets of 71 to 100 characters have the greatest chance of being retweeted. In addition, it is best to post messages on Fridays between 12 noon and 2 pm. It also appears that using a hashtag (#) can contribute to retweets. This visualization contains many tips. At the very bottom, the creators give 5 concrete tips that you can apply:

1. Use links

3. Don't talk about yourself

So post newsworthy and funny messages. These have the best chance of being retweeted. Think about whether your followers are waiting for your message. Does the tweet have added value for them? Twitter users want to inform their network with information that is relevant to them.

5. Tweet about Twitter
It also turns out that tweets about Twitter are retweeted 200 percent more often than messages about Facebook. So do you have news about the microblogging site or a trick? Share it with your followers and there is a big chance that they will share it with their network.
