I have been addicted to the game Wordfeud for a week now . I was alerted to the game via a tweet from @ingeborgmaas. I immediately installed the free version, added friends and started playing. Wordfeud is a variation on the old Scrabble. The rules are the same, the only difference is that the tiles with which extra points can be earned change places per game.
What makes the game so fun and addictive? Trendwatcher Lieke Lamb explained to RTL Editie in the broadcast of Tuesday 23 August that it is a 'homesick trend'. According to the Dikke van Dale, a 'morbid longing for home' trend. Loosely translated, I think it will have to do with nostalgia. A longing for the past. Playing a game with the family around the table.
In my house we almost never did this. So for me it's something different.
The competitive element. You want to show that you know more than the other.
You are not bound by time. You do not have to respond immediately when someone indonesia phone number list else has laid a word. You have a maximum of 72 hours to respond.
The chat function. Have fun bashing each other during a game.
You can play as many people at the same time as you want. I play about 6 people on average. I don't know if there is a limit to the number of people you can play against. But I think 6 is enough.
It's cross-platform. Both for iPhone/iPad, and Android. I have an iPhone, but play against someone who has the latest Samsung, for example.
It is extremely addictive. Every time your opponent has put down a word, you get a ping around your ears. And then you want to see what the other has put down.
In one week I have convinced a large number of people in my street to participate. We constantly challenge each other and outdo each other. When I pick up the children from school, Wordfeud is the talk of the day. "What did you think of this word?", "I had such awful letters, I couldn't lay anything", "And you can easily beat that neighbor." It is a pity that you cannot create a pool in Wordfeud. A functionality that will undoubtedly come.
