To cover a topic that requires multiple skills , journalists can rely on general publications (the book Everything Can Change by Naomi Klein , climate news newsletters such as Carbon Brief or Climate Nexus ) as well as scientific literature ( reports from the IPCC , Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). They can also follow MOOCs (online courses) and discuss with climate researchers, such as those from the CNRS.
According to Isabelle Autissier, president of WWF France, " telling student database the truth means relying on science ." Instead of catastrophic or angelic speeches, we must clearly explain the situation and the trajectory we are on in terms of climate change.
Magali Payen, founder of the “On Est Prêt” initiative, discusses the importance of contextualizing climate by linking it to other topics, whether it be the environment, technology, the economy or social justice. “ I advise journalists to put this topic back in its complexity, which is very much linked to the economic system in which we live .”
3 Provide solutions
For 81% of French people , media coverage of environmental and climate issues leads to awareness of the subject as well as a change in behavior - hence the importance of exposing more solutions to the crisis.
2 Present the subject in an objective, scientific and cross-disciplinary manner
