Internet. Nowadays, many people can no longer do without it. In recent decades, the online web has undergone major development. In this edition of the Infographic Day series, we look back at 10 years of internet.
In this animated infographic, Bestedsites.com illustrates the development of the internet. In 2002, 569 million people had access to the online web. Ten years later, the number of internet users has risen to 2.27 billion. Ten years ago, users were online for 46 minutes per day, nowadays this is easily four hours. The number of websites has also increased enormously: from 3 million to 555 million. In 2002, we made massive use of Internet Explorer. In 2012, 'only' 39 percent still uses Microsoft's browser.

Popular search terms like 'Star Wars', 'Spiderman' and 'Shakira' made way for 'Google+', 'iPhone 5' and 'Pinterest'. And another big change is the arrival of Facebook.
