I only recently discovered the now-completed miniseries “Black Mirror.” Six episodes of a must-see for anyone interested in new technologies and their impact on our lives. Forget your favorite series. “Black Mirror” beats them all, I guarantee it.
“Black Mirror” is a set of unrelated stories. Each is a vision of a more or less distant future. Each tells the story of the consequences of the development of individual media and our attitude towards them . Sometimes we are dealing with a fast-paced thriller, and sometimes a slow narrative with almost no dialogue. Sometimes the story is painfully realistic, and in the next episode it moves on the border of dystopia and metaphor. All of them are connected by their originality and forcing us to reflect on the direction of our civilization’s development.
A blackmailed prime minister is to have sex with a live pig in order to save a kidnapped singapore rcs data princess. An unhappy woman, unable to come to terms with the death of her husband, seeks solace in his virtual avatar. A gadget mounted in the eyes allows us to record our entire lives – and forces us to be completely transparent with our partner or employer. A non-existent character unexpectedly gains huge political support. Sounds interesting, doesn't it?
I was particularly captivated by the attention to detail in even the smallest of stories. If we are dealing with a world where it is possible to record your life with your eyes, there will be Asian perverts ready to hire thugs to get their hands on someone's memories for obvious purposes.
Black Mirror – the (almost) perfect series
