People with convictions are to be envied. From the endless confusion of knowledge, information and opinions, they create their own picture of the world. Their views become messages. Messages convey more than just information, because they want to "share" knowledge. Messages create groups of like-minded people and for this very reason exclude others, who in turn form groups themselves. Opinions are so important because they multiply, organize, stabilize and - constantly renew - convictions.
Beliefs and messages are the fuel of democracy. In saudi arabia rcs data the best case, a viable compromise emerges from a conflict of opinions. This form of constructive weighing up, wrangling and discussion is the best structure that people have ever devised to organize their coexistence in a sensitive and beneficial way for (almost) everyone.
Democracy is based on opinion
Opinions do not pretend to be integrative. They integrate perspectives that underline one's own convictions. One's own conviction is something deeply human and illustrates both the hubris, the overestimation of one's own abilities, but also the limitations of each person. Opinions are free - that is their very own characteristic. Their justification lies in themselves. Democracy is aware of this characteristic and its dangers and balances them out by allowing opinions to merge into a balanced view in a weighing process.
