Creating a web project status with Sistrix

Post by tongfkymm44 »

First, the most basic thing is to check the visibility index. This is one of the most interesting functions of sistrix, since based on multiple factors such as number of keywords, position and search volume, Sistrix creates a visibility index that gives us an overview of the organic performance of a website.

With this graph we can see the evolution of the visibility of the project. Among others, one of its greatest uses is to track why its positioning has changed. In the example used, we can see that in July 2021, the website had a fairly notable decrease in visibility. If, for example, we want to know why a website is performing worse than it used to, we can use this graph to detect when it happened and analyze accordingly.

It also serves to see the evolution of the project, to see if it is growing or decreasing. In the case of the example image we used above, we see that the project has been in a constant positive trend since mid-2022.

Comparison with competitors
Within the SERPS –> Competitors section, we have this function that is very useful for knowing the project sector and its competition.

It is important to understand the meaning of the values offered by this tool. Ignoring the host, we see that we have competition and visibility.

In competition, Sistrix analyses the keywords for which the project we are analysing is ranking, and uses the keyword database to detect who else is ranking for the same keywords and how they are performing on them. In this case, to try to explain it in a simple way, in third position is Fitshop.es, which is the domain we are analysing. (Taken completely at random) This is because it is the database of keywords and positions that Sistrix is using. In other words, it does not take into account any other keywords, which is why it is 100% competitive.

The reason why both Amazon and Decathlon are above Fitshop is because they hospital contact email database have all or most of the keywords that Fitshop has, and they also rank better on them. It makes sense since we are talking about two of the largest e-commerce sites in our country.

And on the other hand, the visibility index, which we have already explained in the previous point.

This helps us to choose what type of competition we want to analyze. If we don't care how similar the projects are to the analyzed project in terms of performance, we can rely only on the competition index. But what I usually do is look for a balance between both indexes, which is the most direct competitor possible, and which has a similar visibility index. Since it is the competition we will fight the most with. In the case of the example, it is very useful to look at Fitnessdigital. Which has 64.1% keyword competition, and a visibility index similar to Fitshop.

Visibility with competitors
If we combine the two points we have seen so far, we can use the visibility index to see the evolution of the web project we are analyzing compared to the competition.

To do this, just go to the “visibility index” section and click on the gear and press “Compare data in the graph”

This will allow us to see the evolution of the analyzed project with respect to the selected competitors:

This is mainly useful for knowing how the competition and the sector are doing. If we see that one of our competitors is growing very quickly, we can analyse it in depth to try to understand why. And if we see, for example, that the entire sector has a drop in visibility that coincides in time and decline, we can know that it may be due to some change in Google that affects the entire sector or even all the SERPs.

Keywords with competitors
Just as we can compare visibility, we can also compare keywords. If we go to the SERPS –> Competition section, we can click on “Common keywords”. This generates a very visual graph where we can compare the keywords with the competition.

In the image, we can see that Fitshop is the smallest circle, indicating that it is the website with the fewest keywords of those chosen, while Fitnessdigital is the one with the most. We can also see how many keywords two websites have in common, or even the three we are analyzing. It is mainly useful to graphically and visually show the keyword status of the website in relation to its competitors.

Keyword Analysis
The keyword database is also one of the most powerful functions that Sistrix offers us. In addition to being very extensive, it stores a large amount of historical data that we can use to make comparisons between dates, one of the functions that I personally use the most, especially when making a project status.

Improve your SEO!
In the overview, we find summarized information that is useful to look at at a glance, such as the number of keywords Sistrix has for the project, the number of keywords in the top 10, the number of URLs that have keywords in the top 10, as well as the number of words that the keywords have, useful for detecting longtails.

Within the keywords subsection, we have a list of them. In this case, to analyze a status, what is most useful is to know which keywords are the most powerful. In this case, we would use the "clicks" metric, which is an estimate of the clicks that the analyzed project would receive for that keyword, based on the search volume, position, and CTR of the project.

We can also use the “Rank Distribution” feature, which shows us a graph of the number of keywords found on each Google page.

Detecting a drop/growth in visibility through keyword comparison
Within the keyword analysis, in some statuses it can be very useful to detect why a project has lost visibility. If we go back to the Fitshop example, we mentioned that there was a slight drop in visibility in mid-2022. Knowing this, we can go to the “Changes in ranking” section and enter the two dates we want to analyze.
