Is a complete MOOC course really cheaper?
Following a MOOC is in principle free. However, a certificate stating that you have successfully completed the module test usually costs money. Comparing prices is difficult, because a collection of MOOCs has a different value than a completed accredited Dutch HBO education.

For convenience, suppose that a collection of MOOC modules has the same value as a higher professional education. Then you can calculate on the back of a cigarette box that higher professional education is cheaper per module than an average MOOC. Over four years, a student will pay approximately 1800 x 4 = €7200 in tuition fees. The average price of all certificates of completed latvia phone number list MOOC modules of a certain four-year higher professional education would then have to be lower than €120 to make it interesting in terms of price. (Assuming that this higher professional education would consist of 60 MOOC modules).

In May 2013, Georgia Tech, Audacity and AT_T announced that they would offer a complete MOOC in Computer Science for $7,000. Normally, this study costs around $40,000. Incidentally, students will not be enrolled until fall 2014. The lead time will be used to gain more experience with smaller-scale pilot courses. The expectation is that the complete MOOC study can be completed in three years, although they want to offer the flexibility to complete the study in six years. One reason for AT&T to participate is that there are around 30,000 vacancies per year. The technical vacancies in particular are difficult to fill. Thanks to the collaboration program, AT&T has a front-row seat when it comes to selecting talented students.
The first MOOC was a project by Dr Sebastian Thrun of Google and Stanford. The Online Course Artificial intelligence, which started in October 2011, attracted 160,000 students from 195 countries. In the end, only 28,000 graduated. But the big win was with the recruiters of top talent at Google. They asked the top 1,000 students to send a resume to Google. Among these 1,000 students were also 250 students with perfect scores.
