Instructions for shooting Reels on a phone
To shoot videos, Reels doesn't need an expensive camera. The essence of short videos on social networks is precisely in naturalness, spontaneity and simple, quick editing.
1. Open the editor.
There are three ways to enter the editor: the main page, the feed editor, and stories. You can launch the function through the menu. The plus icon is located at the top right. On the "Create" bar that appears, select the item. On the "Video Reels" bar that appears, select "Video Reels". You can open the shooting mode on your phone by swiping to the right on the screen.
2. Three options to start filming Reels:
- record a video in the application on your phone;
- use a pre-recorded video from your phone's gallery;
— edit a clip from the added photos.
3. To start recording a video:
— Wipe your phone camera.
— Select the duration of the video (up to 60 seconds).
— Tap the round button with the Play icon in the middle of the screen to start recording.
— Pressing again stops shooting.
4. Length
The duration is set by clicking on the number icon (15, 30, 60) in the circle.
5. Speed.
After the length icon comes the option to define the speed. The default icon is ×1, which is the normal playback speed. Slow down, speed up the playback speed by choosing the options .3×, .5× and 2×, 3×, 4× respectively.
6. Effects.
Tapping the icon with three stars opens the effects overlay mode. The option works like stories — masks and effects are available. Compared to TikTok, there are few masks in Instagram Reels. But the application is developing, new masks and effects appear. The effects section opens when you tap the magnifying glass icon. Reels do not provide for the use of interactive elements (Poll, question box, voting)
7. Audio mode
The note icon is the music overlay mode. Select a track that will be overlaid on the video. Choose trending music (Instagram will offer recommendations), look for tracks divided into categories. After selecting a track, determine the fragment that will sound. For ease of selection of the fragment, a hint will appear: the lyrics of the song.
8. Voice acting, dubbing
Dubbing is speech or sound recorded over a clip. The voiceover is recorded simply through the Instagram app installed on the phone, no third-party programs are required.
- After finishing shooting, click on the arrow pointing to the poland phone numbers right (located at the bottom of the screen).
— Tap the microphone icon at the top of the screen.
— Recording is started by pressing the red circle.
— Multiple dubbing tracks can be recorded.
— Control the time when the voiceover appears using the slider below.
— When finished, click “Done”.
9. Retouching.
The magic wand icon starts the retouching mode.
10. Timer.
If you are going to shoot Reels yourself without an assistant, the timer option will help. Click the clock icon, set the delayed time to have time to get ready to shoot.
11. Preview
When you finish filming Reels, go to the preview mode. On the bottom right there is a white button "Preview". In this mode, you can add stickers, text, masks as in the Stories mode. After clicking, a set of options and tools will appear:
— Note icon — music replacement
— Click on the microphone icon to record your voiceover.
— The stars are effects.
— Stickers.
- Drawing.
— Aa — text input tool icon.
— To adjust the time for the text to appear, select a specific section of the clip using the slider.
— It is possible to download the file to your smartphone.
If you plan to post Reels in the feed, watch the position of the text on the screen. The text should be in the center, because when publishing in the feed, Instagram will crop the file, making it square.
12. Adding video
You can make a Reels from a ready-made file. To add a video from the smartphone Gallery, shot in advance, click on the square on the left — the thumbnail of the last video. After adding, the actions are similar to shooting: edit, add effects, music.
Important! Do not upload clips made in TikTok to Reels. A big mistake is to upload a video with a watermark. The Instagram system notices such content. You risk reducing your reach.
13. Description
The description field contains 2108 characters. Hashtags, mention links (@), and smileys are allowed.
14. Reels cover
The final stage of preparing Reels for publication is creating a cover. Set a frame from the clip as a cover or select a photo from the Camera Roll section.
Instagram allows you to shoot multiple videos. The total duration should not exceed 60 seconds. When you shoot individual videos, you will see a hint at the top of the screen: how much time is left for recording.
