Dynamic filtering of internal traffic in Google Analytics 4

Post by babyrazia113 »

And this is true. The growing number of people working remotely ("at home") has made it more difficult to track the transitions of such employees, because each of them has their own Internet provider, network and IP address. And if they also need to interact with our site during their work (place an order, consult on services, make changes to the assortment, etc., etc.), then the problem becomes completely obvious.

The company's employees visit the site from different places, create new sessions, perform events. This, in turn, leads to erroneous results, since we have no mechanisms to exclude such internal traffic, taiyuan mobile database and we have to analyze data in Google Analytics 4 taking into account all this information. Our users + our employees = all GA4 data.

The only way we can use in Google Analytics 4 is to filter internal traffic . Internal traffic in GA4 is considered to be transitions that come to your site from your company/employees/you. For example:

the development team implements new functionality, periodically visits the site and checks for changes;
call center operators are on the website during communication with the client and help the potential client navigate the order/selection of the product;
As a business owner, you visit various pages of your website throughout the day to check if they are working properly.
In all of the examples above, the statistics in Google Analytics 4 reports are distorted, and it becomes more difficult to determine which clicks came from regular users and which came from you and your team.
