If you don't want to forget this year, then check out my 2021 retrospective. Beware: it contains high levels of hopelessness and anger.
Let's be honest: looking back on 2021 feels like torture.
In the midst of a pandemic that never ends (basically thanks to denialism and poor vaccine distribution) and political crises around the world, 2021 is yet another year to forget.
But we had some good things that brought some peace, or even hope. Besides, it is important to remember the mistakes so as not to repeat them.
As it was last year , the retrospective will be based mainly on three points:
WordPress: summary of what happened in the WordPress ecosystem;
World: summary of the year with news and security macedonia number dataset of the most popular plugins and themes, with links (to sites that provide even more links);
Institutional: a summary of my work during 2021.
If you want a more complete and impartial retrospective, I recommend this link here .
But if you want to know what I thought of this year, keep reading!

No major news in WordPress during the month – except for versions 9.7 and 9.8 of Gutenberg which brought some small usability improvements, such as the possibility of dragging blocks directly to the desired area.
We haven’t had many security issues with well-known plugins either – only WP Paginate had a Cross-Site Scripting issue . But the main question here is: who still uses pagination plugins?!
